After a busy fall season, January is a great month to get caught up on website maintenance, paperwork and other business tasks. I rarely schedule portrait sessions this month, however maternity and newborn sessions are an exception, as they are on their own timetable! Maternity sessions take place around 32-36 weeks, so your belly is perfectly round!
This couple contacted me at the end of last year looking for modern maternity photos taken in downtown Denver. I was so excited to venture out on a relatively warm January day (don’t let the snow fool you, it was melting from the last cold spell) to explore some new murals in the RiNO district of Denver. The colors did not disappoint. But perhaps my favorite moments were when the sun gently streamed in between the alleys and buildings. I am always looking for the most beautiful light! I look forward to photographing this gorgeous couple’s new arrival next month.

Denver Maternity Photographer
I adore being a Denver maternity photographer. There is a joyful anticipation that you can almost feel in the air. I try and capture that excitement in each photograph I deliver to the expectant parents. This couple was especially fun to photograph, as I was lucky enough to capture their engagement and wedding a few years ago. That might not sound like a big deal, but we first met in Rawlins, WY when this glowing mama to be was my son’s amazing music teacher. They drove all the way to Fort Collins, after we moved, for engagement photographs, and I drove back to Wyoming for the wedding. Fast forward a few years later and I now live in Denver and they live in Cheyenne! This session was done half way in my favorite Fort Collins park (sorry for those unfamiliar with the beautiful states of Wyoming and Colorado!). So neat that we have been able to connect for all of these milestones.
The last image of this post was my attempt to replicate a shot from their engagement session…compare to the last shot in this blog post. If you are looking for a Denver maternity photographer, please contact me email@example.com to schedule your session!

This beautiful couple met while getting their Masters Degrees in Brazil. Currently they are both earning their Doctorate degrees at CSU and planning a wedding for later this year. Because they plan on moving back to Brazil after school, it was an honor to capture their Colorado engagment photos. We met in the foothills of Fort Collins to get all the elements of a Colorado spring: snow, mud, and sunshine!
Had a great evening at new location, photographing this adorable couple! They were so sweet to drive down from Wyoming to get their photos taken. So happy there were still plenty of fall colors to photograph in Fort Collins when they came down!
I loved photographing Jacie and Brandon’s intimate wedding in a friend’s backyard. The couple kept things simple, but elegant. The only stressful part of the day was the torrential downpour that started aproximately 30 seconds before the ceremony. I am not exaggerating, the backyard…including all the guests got completely soaked! As soon as the rain let up a bit, the couple had a sweet ceremony followed by their reception at the Depot.
Jacie is so beautiful, getting ready for the day seemed completely effortless. Despite being gorgeous, Brandon told me she is “the most down to earth and amazing woman I have ever met”.
Jacie told me Brandon “always has the ability to be calm, positive, and always looks on the bright side of things”. I loved how easy going he was about the crazy rain and how geniunely happy he seemed all day.
Loved this first look, I could not get Jacie to slow down, she was so excited to see Brandon. What a great moment.
Brandon and Jacie exchanged letters just before the ceremony. It was very touching they took the time to read them together. So romantic! Jacie told me prior to the wedding that the most romantic thing Brandon ever did was “on our first Valentine’s day together, he drove 130 miles to come visit me. I had no idea he was coming, and he took me by complete surprise”.
Jacie told me that Brandon “is always doing things for me…true gentlemen type stuff” which was evident even during the ceremony when Brandon quickly pulled out an umbrella as soon as it started to drizzle.
After everyone got to the warm, dry depot, it was time for a fun, festive spaghetti dinner–family recipe!
The couple posed for some beautiful portraits when the rain stopped.
Love Brandon’s response to why he fell in love with Jacie “I couldn’t help it. I like everything about her I wasn’t too excited about the cat at first but It turns out that she has the coolest cat ever!!”.
After all the rain and gloomy clouds, the sunlight at the end of the night seemed magnificent.
Brandon says Jacie “brings out the best in me and I don’t have to change who I am around her”. I am so happy for this couple!
