This week’s theme for my 52 week project is A New Perspective. This week, I loaded up my four year old and we went scouting for a new location. We went out at 10am while his brother was at school and just played around a few new spots. I am not sure if I found the perfect location for a photoshoot, but I did find the windiest locations. I do not like to bribe my kids to take photos, but I actually felt so bad about making him stand in the coldest, windiest spots on earth (and smile about it) that I had to treat him to McDonald’s after our adventure.

Because I tend to be a creature of habit and shoot at the same few spots, this is my new perspective!

One of my very best friends from The University of Arizona moved back, after college, to her hometown Temecula, California. We do our best to go out and visit every year, but now that we moved to Wyoming from Tucson, it has a been a little more difficult! I am so happy we got to see them this winter. It is a tradition for us to go to Old Town to shop and visit the Old Town Rootbeer Company. This year, I grabbed my camera to get some portraits of the girls and remember our fun time. Beach pics coming up next…

Two funny outtakes from our trip the Old Town Root Beer Company!! The root beer is delicious, I couldn’t get the little ones to stop drinking long enough to smile at the camera!

This session was taken at the end of December, on a beautiful, sunny Tucson day! Katie, is my sister’s best friend, so I have known her a longtime, and it was nice to meet her beautiful family. They recently moved from NYC to Berkeley, so for us to all be in Tucson at the same time took some planning. This session was extra special, because the location we shot at was the same place where they got married several years ago! Little Emily had just taken her first steps, so it was wonderful to capture this milestone. I just fell in love with her sweet, joyful personality–can’t wait to see her again!

The theme this week is shadows. I typically avoid shadows in my portraits, so it was fun to play with some different lighting (natural light of course) and get some shadows on my subjects face. I think it definitely adds a mysterious, timeless feel to this basic portrait of my son. As much as I miss the warm weather and beautiful colors of the outdoors this time of year–I do love simple, indoor portraits. I think they really focus in on the subject’s personality and eyes.

One of the best parts of my trip, was spending time with my best friend, who is also a photographer! She let me tag along on a few of her sessions, when I didn’t have my own scheduled, and I couldn’t help but take my camera. I will be scheduling more sessions in Tucson for the week of April 7th, 2012, as well as some summer sessions (dates to be announced). Please contact me as soon as possible if you are interested–I already have a list started. Thanks!

Still playing catch up from last year! This session was a lot of fun! Right after we finished the photos, we took a long hike to the top of the Rawlins’ Uplift. From the top we could see all the pretty Christmas lights around town. Of course, I left my camera in the car for the scenic part of our hike:)

For the 52 week project I am participating in, the theme for week three is Imagine. Although I have countless images of my boys using their imaginations to play around the house, I had to share this image from our trip to San Diego. Something about the vastness of the ocean, really makes one imagine all the possibility out in the world!

I am a little behind on posting images from my holiday trip to California and Arizona! Here are a few of one of my favorite little guys, just to get started! He was so adorable taking his dog on a walk.

Some of my favorite sessions are with repeat clients! I photographed this adorable family last December, when Morgan was just a year old. She has grown so much the last year…and in a few short weeks will be a big sister. I followed Morgan (and her mom and dad) around The University of Arizona and we captured some great shots of them playing around, no posing required! Thanks guys for booking me when I come to Tucson, Arizona–I can’t wait to meet your new addition!

If anyone else in Tucson, AZ is interested in booking a session, my next trip will be April 7-14th! Please contact me as soon as possible, as I have already booked two sessions for that week.

This was taken on a very cold, windy day here in Rawlins, Wyoming! Apparently while I was enjoying balmy 70 degree weather in Tucson, Arizona and Southern California, my Wyoming friends were enjoying weather in the 40s…a lot warmer than the day these photos were taken. I really enjoyed working with this beautiful family–they were very relaxed and dressed perfectly for holiday portraits–despite the cold weather!
