This week, I am joining photographers from around the world to share photos of Fatherly Love. My boys are extremely lucky–they have the best Father in the World! He has so much patience and spends hours with them– tossing around the football, creating intricate Lego sculptures, and explaining to them how everything works. He also has a stern, protective side to him…the side that has taken me by surprise, and is sculpting our boys into two wonderful little men.
I love the symmetry of the first two images…my youngest son having fun riding on a four wheeler…and being tossed in the air…but in both images his hand is firmly holding on to his dad…for security.
The second set of images is my attempt to get a Fatherly Love picture gone horribly wrong! It seems that everytime I get my camera out, it is a signal for my kids to push someone over…even their dad!

This week I am joining fifteen photographers from around the world on this assignment “treasure: What is your greatest treasure? What do you value the most”?
Yesterday, I got a phone call. And the next thing I know my four year old was waking up his seven year old brother saying “James, James, our Grandpa Lee went up to heaven”. My Grandpa is a rancher who was born and died on the most beautiful, pristine ranch in Wyoming. He was a true Wyoming cowboy and his loss will be felt greatly by his family–including eight grandchildren and fourteen (plus two on the way) great-grandchildren. I don’t have the energy to describe my feelings, but the first thing I did was look for a special snapshot I had taken three years ago of James with his Grandpa Lee. Actually I got obessed over finding this photo–that lived on my hardrive and perhaps a back-up CD. After a very stressful, painstaking search I found this TREASURED photo. The photo that showed the connection my grandpa had with one of my sons. The photo I took when I knew nothing about photography. When my son had on a random t-shirt. When I captured random things in the background. When my F/stop was 11 (photographers may laugh at me now). I immediately sent this to my print lab and ordered a special print for me and one for my son to treasure as he gets older. And I definitely learned a lesson–take photos that mean something–and print them out to TREASURE!
Grandpa Lee, you are loved and will be missed–you are a true treasure in this world, I don’t know anyone who was lucky enough to have a grandpa like you.

Once again, I am joining fifteen other photographers from around the world in photographing a weekly theme. Sadly, I missed last week…I was just plain busy! This week wasn’t much different, so I didn’t get the chance to photograph the solemn and poignant photo I had in mind for the theme of Memorial Day–which to me is a day of remembrence of the U.S. citizens who have died in service. But, last night, going through images on my computer, I found one that I thought represented the holiday in a different light. I hope it reflects the begining of summer, the great American pasttime, the colors red and blue, and the promise of making memories with your friends and family!
Please continue the circle by visiting Launa Valente, Columbus, Ga Photographer.

This Friday, the theme is your favorite flower (assuming, perhaps, some mothers had leftover bouquets from Mother’s Day). My eyes had skipped ahead a few weeks, so I realized in the middle of the day that the photo I had ready for tomorrow was not for this week’s theme. I had to get some flowers…and fast. I mentioned this to my three year old who immediately came up with the solution. And to be honest, any flower given to me by one of my sons is my favorite flower in the world!

Week 16 of the 52 week project I am doing along with fifteen or so other photographers from around the world!! Previous topics have been “fooled ya” and out of focus. This week’s theme is “Motherly Love: Your mom, Are you a mom? Another mother figure in your life?”.
My photo is pretty straightfoward…I had my husband take a quick shot of me and my two boys all dressed up on Easter. It wasn’t a very thought out pic, but it is the only recent one I have of the three of us! Being a mom is by far the best job I have ever had–and the most exhausting. My husband travels often for work, so sometimes I am “at work” more than I would like, but I am lucky to be blessed with two fun, loving, and sweet boy that make me laugh all the time–like when my seven year old just asked “why is there is no color in this picture, it looks like a picture from 1977 when cameras were invented”.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms out there…and head on to see what Lynn of Bugsmom Photography in NJ has in store.

Well, it was bound to happen! I missed a week of my 52 week project. It couldn’t have been a more appropriate week to skip. The weekly theme was “sacrifice”! And after editing a wedding and driving to Denver to pick up my sister and nephew for a fun visit–I had to sacrifice my weekly post. Back on track now, this week’s theme is “sleep”, specifically, “where do you sleep?”.
This is where I sleep. At least I start out there. At about 6am every morning, I am pushed out or over by this little guy. I can’t say I mind one bit. My baby is almost four–and I am going to snuggle him every second I get.
Please continue through the blog circle to see what all the talented photographers in our group have captured this week!!! First up, Leah from Birth Express in Hampton Roads, VA.

This week, myself, along with 20 other photographers around the world, are sharing images of nature. Actually, I am complete cheating this week and sharing some images from last July. The theme “Nature: Spring should be in full boom – what is beautiful in your view?” sounded great, until I had to scrape a foot of snow of my car, while visiting my husband (who was working in a town less than two hours away). So much for Spring Break!! Living at an altitude of almost 7,000 feet can lead to some crazy springtime weather!! So here are some beautiful summertime wildflowers from the Snowy Range!
Now visit Lorrin of Itty Bitty Photography, to see what is beautiful in her hometown!

Each Friday, I join twenty ladies from around the world in photographing a particular theme. Themes in the past have been Out of Focus, Food, and Journey. Today we are capturing our pets! My boys would love to have a puppy! In fact, my three year old often pretends he is our family dog. But in the meantime, this collection of dogs will have to do. My son loves lining things up and counting them…which is just what he did when I asked him to bring me his puppies.
“It’s a pillow, it’s a pet, it’s a pillow pet”! Sorry, that song immediately gets stuck in my head when I look at these photos.

Head over to Tamara’s blog…and then continue through the links to see what everyone captured for the theme pets!!

EDITED TO ADD: This is not a trampoline–this is my son being thrown into the pool by his dad:)!
Yup, in honor of April Fool’s Day, we were to create an image that may look like one thing but in reality is another!! I am really anxious to see what the other photographers in the group came up with. I thought about doing a macro (close-up) shot of something around the house, but I was looking through some pics of last summer and just had to post this one of my son “flying”!
Fly on over to Australia and see what the amazing Lucy Jane has for you!!!

Another week, another fun assignment! Again, i am joining 20 other photographers from around the globe in a fifty two week project. Each week has a theme, and we all photograph our interpretation of the theme! This week we were to turn our lenses on manual focus–and purposely expose an image out of focus. I am sure I am not the only one who found this assignment a little akward. I have spent the last few years perfecting my focus and pretty much automatically delete any photo where I can’t count my subjects eyelashes. I am posting my image for the week–and two bonus images–I kind of enjoyed not worrying about focus–even though it was more difficult than it seemed!

Head over to Houston Texas and see what Linsey Stuckey has out of focus!
