Here is the conclusion to our three day weekend in Moab, UT, a perfect three day trip for families from Denver. We planned our last full day around Canyonlands National Park. This national park is absolutely stunning and very large. There were a lot of people visiting the park, so we stayed clear of busy overlooks and found a turn off called Aztec Butte. This led us to a short but steep 2 mile hike. The path was marked by stacks of stone. We did quite a bit of scrambling up slick rock to reach the top. What we couldn’t tell from below is that we would be rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the canyons that surrounded us. We also enjoyed checking out the ancient granaries used to store food by the Pueblo Indians.
We then drove on a bit further and walked around Grand View Point Overlook. I think a comparison to the Grand Canyon would be fair! As you can see from the last image, my husband was anxious to get the boys back in the car and away from the edge! After a long day of hiking and exploring, we rewarded the boys with a sunset off road jeep tour. This was definitely a highlight of the trip, but I left my camera securely in the hotel room. The ride was great for thrill seekers and ended in an amazing sunset overlooking the Colorado River. A perfect way to end our trip!
