Do You Really Need Family Photos Every Year?
I’ll be honest. Now that both of my boys are in college, I look at family photos a little differently.
When your kids are little, there’s always another milestone coming. A birthday, a new tooth, the first day of school. You take the pictures because you can practically see them changing right in front of you.

Then suddenly, they’re older.
They’re busy. They have their own lives. Getting everyone together takes a little more planning. And you start to realize how quickly the everyday version of your family becomes a memory.
That’s one of the reasons I loved this session so much.

These kids are older, but they still laughed with their parents, played around, wandered through the mountains and just enjoyed being together. We weren’t celebrating a milestone. We were just documenting them, right now.
And honestly, I think that’s reason enough.

You don’t need little kids. You don’t need a big announcement or a special occasion.
Because someday, you’ll miss this exact version of your family.

The kids you have right now. The way they laugh. The way they look at you. The way it feels to have everyone together.

That’s worth photographing.
