How to prepare for your maternity session | Denver Maternity Photographer

As a Denver maternity photographer, I want to share with you how to best prepare for a maternity session. The arrival of a new baby is such a joyful, exciting and life-changing time! I absolutely recommend documenting this time of your life.
Photographer
The most important decision is selecting a photographer! The right photographer will make you feel comfortable, flatter you with great lighting, angles and poses, and highlight the emotions you are feeling. When reaching out to a maternity photographer, first explore their website portfolio to ensure their work resonates with you. Take a look at recent blog posts or their Instagram feed and look for consistency. Are the images in focus, beautifully exposed and nicely framed? Each session is different, so don’t select a photographer based on one photograph. Make sure you love their body of work!
Self-care
As a new mom, you will be completely (and blissfully) consumed with your new baby. Your maternity session is a great time to splurge on hair and make-up to feel great! If you don’t want to visit a salon, you can make an appointment at a department store for a free makeover and get some tips for the photo session. You can also pick up some fresh products for after the baby is here. If professional hair and make-up aren’t for you, a fresh hair cut, new lipstick or great pedicure can make all the difference in how you feel in photographs, and for the last few weeks of pregnancy and beyond (think hospital selfies!).
Timing
Every pregnancy is different, but I recommend scheduling your maternity photos anywhere from 30-36 weeks. You want your belly to be nice and round to highlight that bump! But you also want to be comfortable and feel your best. Your photographer shouldn’t make you feel uncomfortable during a session, but it is nice to be able to sit, stand and move around without being too restricted (I couldn’t even buckle my seat belt the week before my younger son was born!).
This beautiful couple decided at last minute to schedule a maternity session! They were past my recommend time frame…and look how gorgeous this mom to be is! So don’t let the perfect time stop you from scheduling a maternity session. The most important thing is that you capture this special time!Denver Maternity Photographer | www.julielivermorephotography.comwww.julielivermorephotography.comDenver Maternity Photographer | www.julielivermorephotography.comwww.julielivermorephotography.comDenver Maternity Photographer | www.julielivermorephotography.comwww.julielivermorephotography.comDenver Maternity Photography | www.julielivermorephotography.comwww.julielivermorephotography.comwww.julielivermorephotography.comwww.julielivermorephotography.com
