Senior Posing Tips for Guys | Colorado Senior Photographer
If the thought of posing for senior pictures makes you think, I have no idea what to do with my hands, you’re not alone. The good news? You don’t need to know how to pose. I’ll guide you through it. Here are a few easy ways to look natural and comfortable during your Colorado senior session.
1. Keep Moving
Some of the best photos happen when you’re walking, adjusting your jacket, tossing a backpack over your shoulder, or simply changing positions. Movement keeps your photos from feeling stiff or overly posed.

2. Use Your Environment
Colorado gives us plenty to work with—mountain trails, rocks, trees, open fields, and city locations. Lean against a tree, sit on a rock, walk a trail, or hang out on a tailgate. Using your surroundings gives your hands something to do and makes the photos feel more like you.

3. Don’t Overthink Your Hands
Hands in pockets, thumbs hooked in your pockets, arms crossed, or holding something you brought along are all easy options. You don’t need to force a pose. Relaxed is always better.

4. Look Away From the Camera
You don’t have to stare at the camera for every photo. Looking off toward the mountains, walking away, or looking down for a moment creates a more candid, natural feel.

5. Bring Something That Feels Like You
A mountain bike, skateboard, guitar, sports gear, car, fishing rod, or even your favorite jacket can make a senior session feel much more personal. The goal isn’t just to take a good photo—it’s to create photos that actually feel like you.

And if you’re still thinking, Okay, but what am I actually supposed to do? Don’t worry. That’s my job. I’ll give you direction throughout your Colorado senior session so you never have to wonder what to do next.
