Spring Family Session at Golden History Park in Golden, Colorado
There’s something especially beautiful about spring evenings in Colorado — fresh green trees returning, warm golden light stretching a little longer, and families settling into slower moments together after a long winter. This recent session at Golden History Park captured all of that perfectly.
This sweet family of three came dressed in soft muted blues and warm tan tones that blended beautifully with the natural landscape and dreamy spring colors surrounding the park. Their outfits felt timeless and effortless, adding to the relaxed and organic feel of the evening.
And their little boy? Pure joy from start to finish.
He spent the entire session running, exploring, laughing, climbing fences, making silly faces, and keeping everyone moving the whole time — exactly how sessions with little ones are meant to feel. Some of my favorite images come from letting kids simply be themselves instead of expecting perfection, and he brought so much personality and energy to every moment.
Rather than forcing poses, we leaned into playfulness and connection. Mom and dad chased him through the grass, scooped him up for quick cuddles between adventures, and laughed right alongside him as the evening unfolded naturally. Those in-between moments — the giggles, the movement, the chaos that parents know so well right now — are often the memories families treasure most later.
Golden History Park is one of my favorite locations for family photography near Denver because it offers such a beautiful mix of open space, mountain views, rustic textures, and soft natural light. It’s especially perfect for active little kids who need room to move and explore without feeling confined.
Sessions like this are always such a reminder that family photos don’t need to feel stiff or perfectly controlled to be meaningful. Sometimes the most honest galleries come from embracing the energy kids bring and documenting this season exactly as it is.
