Working out From Home while you Work from Home

“Life imposes things on you that you can’t control, but you still have the choice of how you’re going to live through this.” — Celine Dion

Working out from home while stuck at home

I was working out from home with an online yoga class this morning and the instructor Melvin said something along the lines of “the most beautiful things are right on the other side of facing something difficult”. Just like some workouts can be hard to power through, being self-quarantined due to COVID-19 feels never ending! Let’s remember that after we make it through this unknown time together, something beautiful awaits!

I am not a fitness guru, but I have worked from home for nearly decade! For me, it’s always important to have a routine to my day, in order to stay productive and sane. While many of our normal activities are on pause, working out can help ease our anxiety, structure our days, and give us something positive to focus on. With yoga studios and gyms all closed to help contain the spread of germs, I have bookmarked a few of my favorite working out from home resources and want to share them with you! Please leave me your favorite at-home workout in the comments!

Core Power on Demand

I love the classes and community at CowerPower Yoga here in North Denver! My favorite classes are Core 2 (a heated yoga flow class) and Sculpt (which includes strength training). They also have a subscription based service, but are offering many classes for free with no commitment (see link above). I did YS Full Body Challenge with Melvin R this morning!

Jessica Smith TV (YouTube)

I first discovered Jessica Smith when I lived in a small town in Wyoming. I didn’t have a gym membership and bought a few of her DVDs to workout at home. My favorite was a 10 Minute Solution: Ultimate Bootcamp! She has tons of free workouts now on Youtube which can be done in small spaces!

The Betty Rocker

I can’t remember how I discovered Bree, “The Betty Rocker” but her workouts are always fun and different including HIIT circuits and Barre fusion! She also runs great challenges on her Instagram and Facebook pages to help keep you accountable.

Kristin Andrus (YouTube)

I followed Kristin on Instagram initially for all of her funny stories and positive parenting ideas! But I recently tried one of her free workouts on Youtube! She has been posting workouts even more frequently and has done a few live ones through Instagram. She also shares great parenting hacks (like snack boards) and amazing ways to help in your community on her page.

Walking!

When my day doesn’t go as planned, my favorite way to exercise is to go on a long walk with my dog (and if I am lucky another human). We have a beautiful open space behind our neighborhood, and I always feel good after spending time outside. Sometimes keeping it simple is good for your mind and body!
