I love first year cake smash sessions! It is so fun to watch babies taste their first cake…some completely devour it, others look at their parents like they are crazy and want nothing to do with the strange object. But before we make a mess, I think it’s important to capture some family portraits. The first birthday is such a huge milestone! This little man had just started walking, and these ended up being some of my favorites from the entire session. I love his look of glee walking hand in hand with mom and dad. He tried to take off on his own, but pretty quickly decided he needed dad’s hand back. Precious!
Back to the cake, this little sweetheart attacked his cake with absolute delight! At one point he gave up on his hands and just dove into the cake head first. I don’t blame him, Iced Expressions Cake Design makes the most delicious cakes! The blue ombre frosting went perfect with the adorable tie his mom brought to our session. I love when parents are game with doing their cake smash photos outdoors, they turn out so great!
