Interview with Event Stylist and Designer Lisseth Gallegos of Simply Chic Events
I am so excited for my annual Celebrate Moms event on April 24th! I only offer mini-sessions once a year, and mom and children (of all ages) are my very favorite subjects to photograph, so I wanted this event to be extra special. I immediately thought of my dear friend and talented creative entrepreneur, Lisseth Gallegos of Simply Chic Events. She is going to make the studio space extra special for the mom’s attending this year’s event. I thought it would be fun to share some images of a stylized session I photographed for Lisseth and do a little Q&A to share a little more about her and the amazing services she offers! Enjoy!
What sorts of services do you offer?
We offer event design consultation, implementation, as well as styled catering buffets!
Tell us a little bit about your background in event planning and the “Aha!” moment when you knew this was your passion.
I knew this was my passion when this became an obsession. But I believe the spark was there all along. This has always been a part of my character. As a child we didn’t have very much money and so that pushed me into being creative with everything. Like, going to a garage sale and seeing a toy and knowing all it needed was a little love. So that’s what I do, I put love (sometimes a lot) into everything I do. But my real ‘Aha’ moment was when I realized no one had to pay me to do this, this was something I happily pursued in my free time and now people will happily pay for my work.
How would you describe your style?
I like to think my style is classic, yet modern. I like to keep up with what is current, but try to avoid anything that looks like too much of a trend, for me elegance is key.
How do you bring a client’s vision to life?
Well, that’s relatively easy in this day and age. I have them share Pinterest folders with me or just images. This gives me a visual understanding of what they like. Although, I don’t copy what their images show, I can keep in mind what style they like and go from there.
What is your secret for staying calm under pressure, and how do you deal with day-of-disasters?
Let’s see, I stay calm under pressure by cleaning when I’m stressed. No really, that’s what I do! It helps, don’t judge. Day of disasters should be dealt with professionally – I will notify the people that need to be notified and formulate a plan to best resolve the situation, then move forward.
What do you think are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
The top three skills are accountability, persistence, and giving credit/ helping fellow entrepreneurs along the way!
What food, drink, and/or song inspires you?
Wine! Song- Party all the time by Eddie Murphy. It puts me in a good mood.
What is your dream project?
My dream project would be my husband and my vow renewal celebration. I loved everything about my wedding and I would want to do it all over again, but I would make it more intimate.
