When planning family photos one of the biggest struggles is planning outfits and clothing for everyone. I always recommend starting with mom. She can set the tone and create the vibe she’s after. And I think it’s easier to plan the rest around her.

Once mom decides what she is wearing you can fill in with kids and partner. I always recommend neutrals for children and babies.
Here are my reasons:
- Neutral clothing helps showcase the child and they are not overshadowed or consumed by their outfit. There is a time and place for fun dressed up outfits, But I want to capture your little one in their true essence.
- You want to avoid anything too “matchy matchy.” Coordinating is the goal, but we don’t want to all be matching in the same colors. Sometimes people can get lost in a sea of colors.
- I love photos that are timeless through the years. Sticking to a more neutral color pallet helps us achieve long lasting fashion and outfits.
I’m not saying we can’t have fun with our kid’s clothing, but following these simple guidelines will really help your photo session turn out extra special!
